Description
Tatreez 101 (followed by an open stitching circle)
Spend an afternoon learning about the ancient and modern art and craft of Palestinian embroidery.
This is a beginner class where you’ll learn to stitch a traditional Palestinian cross stitch motif in a community circle.
The class is divided into two parts:
– The first is a presentation about the history and the present of Tatreez in Palestine and in the diaspora.
– The second is a stitching demonstration and practice.
We will cover Tatreez as an indigenous art, personal expression, collective language and memory, tool of resistance, thousand year old tradition and a living, modern cultural practice.
Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class is for you.
Come stitch with us in solidarity!
